How to Start an Internet Sweepstakes Cafe
There's interest across the country in one of the newest entrepreneurial opportunities, and that is Internet Sweepstakes Cafes. These businesses offer a great way of opening a business that can be started and run with relatively little up front cost or overhead, yet turn around with a short break-even point and continue with a very lucrative return on investment.
Obviously the first step in opening an Internet Sweepstakes Cafe is the same as it is with any other business. One needs to investigate the local laws, permits, and any other requirements or limitations placed on such a business in the area being considered. You probably want to find out if there are any other Internet Sweepstakes Cafes already open in your city or county. Second, research the types of people most likely to patronize your business and think about where you are most likely to find those customers, then look for a location that puts your business close to where they are. Fortunately, most of the time, it's relatively easy to find a location these days due to the low occupancy rates of most locations where Internet Sweepstakes Cafes tend to do best: strip malls, former small restaurants, etc. There are also plenty of currently operating businesses that can enjoy the benefits of Internet Sweepstakes machines - convenience stores, arcades, and other such places of business.
As with every business, most of your success comes from Location, Location, Location! Obviously you want your Internet Sweepstakes Cafe to be visible to as many people as possible, whether from foot traffic walking past the business, like in a strip mall, or from a location that makes it very visible to passing traffic (the more cars per day the better!) One also wants to make the Cafe as welcoming as possible. Does it look inviting from the outside? As importantly, is it comfortable and inviting once a customer enters?
Next one should consider what type of utilities are required in the location to open the Cafe. There are some very specific power requirements due to the number of Sweepstakes machines (usually anywhere from 10-40 or more), as well as good Internet service availability. One needs to determine whether these requirements are already in place, or find out what it could cost to get the location supplied with what's needed. And obviously there will be other local requirements based on the type of business (such as bathrooms, available exits, etc). The more one educates themselves on what questions they need to ask up front, the more smoothly the process of opening an Internet Sweepstakes Cafe will go.
Last in the discussion, but certainly not least in the decision making process is determining what Sweepstakes provider(s) to go with. More often than not, most players like to visit locations that have many different gaming options available to them, so you may decide to have more than one provider. Other things to consider when making that decision are what the upfront costs are with that provider, what the payout of the sweepstakes are going to be, what the split with the provider is, and other such considerations.
